Giving Back to the Community
At 2 Paws Up Inc, we believe in the power of giving back. Every service we provide allows us to donate a portion of our profits to local non-profits, supporting those in need and strengthening our community. We are proud to introduce our sponsor, Rachael Mavroudis, and her incredible work with Mavroudis Poodle Rescue.
Meet Our Sponsor
Rachael LaLiberty Mavroudis, RVT of Mavroudis Poodle Rescue Inc
I have been a Veterinary Technician for nearly 20 years. My journey with animals, especially poodles, is both personal and passionate.
Believe it or not, I wasn’t always an animal person, nor a poodle person. The first animal I ever ran from was a toy poodle! I actually jumped onto a pool table to escape from the harmless little barking dog. But everything changed when my family moved from Lawrence, Massachusetts to Lawrenceville, Georgia. At the age of 5, my parents surprised us with a puppy after Christmas.
At 9, I started volunteering with the Gwinnett Humane Society every Saturday and Sunday throughout high school. This experience was transformative, earning me the President’s Scholarship Award for community service three years in a row.
I graduated from Collins Hill High School in 2003 and then attended the Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology, earning an Associate’s Degree in Animal Science in 2005. Since then, I’ve worked in general veterinary practice, specialty, and emergency veterinary medicine, all while continuing to volunteer with the Gwinnett Humane Society.
My love for poodles began with my first rescue poodle, Puddle Duck. Puddle Duck was a tiny, delicate toy poodle that I saved from euthanasia. He joined our family alongside our beloved Huckleberry Finn, a dog who was with me through college and many life milestones.
After losing Huckleberry Finn, Puddle Duck and I mourned deeply. But our hearts found healing with new rescues like Lug Nut, a puppy we found on Craigslist, and The Great Gatsby, who we flew in from Colorado.
Driven by my experiences and love for poodles, my husband Chris and I decided to open Mavroudis Poodle Rescue. We aim to help those sweet babies who weren’t as fortunate from the beginning. As an RVT in Gwinnett County, I know there’s a critical need for specialized care for poodles and poodle mixes.
My favorite part of my job is making a difference in pets’ lives by educating owners on proper breed care, from grooming basics to diet and allergy management.
