How Can I Show My Pet I am Thankful?

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It is that time of year where we show the people and pets in our lives just how much they mean to us. We often express our love and gratitude with food, when it comes to our human family. It may be tempting to do the same with our pets; it is important to only feed them healthy foods. Our pets’ bodies are not accustomed to the sugar and sodium that we typically indulge in during the holidays. What may seem like a minor indulgence could land you and your fur baby at the emergency veterinarian’s office on a holiday. So how can we show our pets that we are thankful for them? Have no fear, 2 Paws Up Inc. is here with some suggestions on how to make your furry loved ones feel special.

1. Take a Trip

Just like us humans, animals get bored with the same routine. Maybe you take the same walking route every night. This Thanksgiving, load up your pup in the car and find a nearby park. Your dog will appreciate the new sights and smells. Just make sure you know where you’re going is pet-friendly. You can even just go in a different direction on your walk. Changing things up will bring some excitement to your pup’s life.

2. New Toy

Humans and pets alike are always in the mood for something fun and new. Even a small purchase from the pet store can brighten your fur child’s life. Your dog would love a new ball. Some new tubes would be great for a hamster. And cats are always looking for some catnip or a new toy to bat around. You can even make something. Just be sure that any toy you give your pet does not have anything that they can swallow.

3. Treats

If there is ever a time to give your pets treats, it is the holidays. We just have to make sure that we give them treats made for them. Human treats and pet treats are very different. Ask your veterinarian about the healthiest options. You can even find recipes online for healthy but delicious treats for your favorite animal.

4. Pet Spa

Spas aren’t just for humans anymore. Now you can take your pet for a day of rest and relaxation. They live stressful lives sleeping all day and making sure your family feels loved. Your pet will be pampered and come home to you looking and smelling good. If you want to save money, you can always give them a nice bath and massage yourself.

5. Playdate

Animals love the company of others, just like us. If you have socialized your pet, they may have friends of their own. Even our pets need BFFs (best fur friends). If they don’t have any favorites in the area, think about meeting up with someone who has similar pets. Always be sure that any introduction of a new animal is done on neutral territory.

We hope you and your pet have a lot to be thankful for this year. We are grateful to have you be apart of the 2 Paws Up Inc. family. If you need assistance taking care of your pets this holiday, please give us a call. We love to see them.
