Today, February 22 is officially recognized as “Walking the Dog Day.” What a great day to celebrate! I took some time to research the history behind this significant day to try and find out how “Walking the Dog Day” began, but could not find the creator or history of the day. Regardless of the reason, 2 Paws Up Pet Sitting knows all to well the importance of regular walks for your dog and are glad that this is officially a recognized day!
Just like you and I, dogs need regular exercise. There is no “exact length of time” to take your dog for a walk. All breeds are different, so naturally their specific exercise needs will be different. Here is an excellent website that tells you how much exercise your specific dog breed needs: https://www.dogbreedinfo.com/exerciselow.htm . It also provides much more useful information including: an overall description of the dog breed, the temperament, height and weight, health problems, living conditions, life expectancy, grooming and the origin. This is also a very helpful guide if you are planning on getting a dog in the future, it can help find the right fit for you. There are numerous health benefits to walking your dog. Along with the benefits gained from walking your dog, there are also problems that can result from lack of exercise. Pets WebMd has provided a great list of both of these examples: https://pets.webmd.com/dogs/guide/exercise-dogs .
If you cannot find the time to walk your dog, remember that we also provide Dog Walking Services: https://2pawsupinc.com/services-rates/ Trust us, we know the feeling of always worrying about your pet while at work. By hiring us to walk your dog while you’re away, you will no longer have this fear! You can finally relax at the end of the day and for once not think about rushing home to let your pets out. Also, a midday walk is good for your dogs’ physical and mental health, helps prevent boredom, a great way to release excessive energy, and helps maintain a healthy weight!
