Hey there!  I’m Barbie.

I’ve been called smart, funny, talkative, animal obsessed and outgoing.  Not to mention a really GREAT MINIATURE HORSE PERSON.  Okay, I’m trying to master it. Let me know if you want to see me practice driving a miniature horse around a course.

Here’s the deal, I started 2 Paws Up as part of my MBA program in 2003. It was my thesis.  Yes, I got the piece of paper that said I know my way around a boardroom, but I decided to create my own boardroom in the great outdoors instead of schlepping around looking for someone else’s boardroom to complement.

I’ve been rockin’ Gwinnett County as the go-to pet-care provider for busy professionals since that day and haven’t looked back.

I’m all about fitness and wellness.  Not just for myself but for your pets (and you, too).  You know that the better we care for our bodies, the happier we’re going to be.  That’s true for your pets too.  Still, they don’t get much say in what they eat or their fitness regimen.   That’s what really gets me fired up – being able to provide your pets with precise and loving care while you’re away.

As a former fitness professional, ( I received my Group Fitness AFAA Certification in 2004 & my Personal Training AAAI/ISMA Certification in 2008), I won’t shy away from providing much needed exercise for your pets but I’ll ensure that they’re well-fed to your specifications as well. Oh, and I’m your one-stop resource on pet fitness and wellness when you need it.

I love working with busy professionals in Gwinnett.  Especially you road warriors who feel like you barely have time to empty your suitcase before you hit the tarmac again.  Whether you’re traveling for work or much-needed pleasure, I’m there for you.  Even at the last minute.  Cool, huh?

I know you love your pets, you just need a little assistance when you’re on the road to ensure they’re sleeping well, exercising and eating right.

This is an invitation from me to you, let’s have a no-obligation, private consultation about your pet and his needs, so I can be up to speed as soon as you need me.

In my past life I’ve been an Assistant Manager at a women’s clothing store, an administrative assistant, and a loan closer.  I’ve also done my time waiting tables.  Some of the cool things I learned in all those gigs were all about getting along with diverse personalities, solving problems on the go and making great decisions to ensure a positive outcome for all parties.

I’ve spent a lifetime sharing my home and world with animals, from my first German Shepherd Dog, Hans, to Rocky and Misi Beaucoup, a standard and toy poodle, respectively and three cats I share my life with now.

I believe that doing this work is what I’m called to do in a massive, “call from the Universe” sort of way.  In my experience a well cared for and well-loved pet brings more than just companionship to a person and a household, I’ve seen that the bond can literally change the dynamics of relationships, inspire the community and lead the way for positive and peaceful change in the world.  As Ghandi said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

Some other things you may want to know before handing your keys and pets’ care over to me:

  • If I’m outdoors I’m happy.  Your pets are not going to be dragged through a short slog of a walk, no matter what the weather is.  We’ll have fun and explore the world together.
  • If I’m not caring for your pets, you’ll find me hanging out with my pets at Tribble Mills Park or Stone Mountain.  (okay, I’m not bringing the cats, but the pups and I will be there).  While I’m there you’ll find me pedaling past or hiking a new, or old favorite, trail.
  • I love the water, when the wind is right and the skies are clear, you’ll find me and my hubby sailing the blue waters.

Anything else you want to know?  Just ask!.

I can’t wait to learn about you and your pets.
